Open positions

You can find specific openings for students projects, PhD and postdoc here.

If you are interested in working with us as a PhD student or postdoc, please send Massimiliano an email. State briefly why you are interested and attach a CV, including information about the grades you had as an undergraduate. Important: please insert “Application PhD” or “Application Postdoc” in the subject line. If you are applying to a specific advertisement, note this in your email.

PhD

Join us to push the boundaries of quantum physics! In our group, you will explore how to control mechanical systems at the quantum level, working at the frontier where classical and quantum meets.

Your PhD will be tailored to your talents and interests, as well as to the most exciting directions in the field when you start. While we are primarily experimentilists, we also ventur into theory whenever is needed to drive the science forwards.

Along your PhD, you will be involved in designing and building advanced optical systems, performing quantum-limited interferometric measurements, automating your experiment, analyzing data, doing simulations and devloping theoretical models.

You will gain a versatile skill set in optics, quantum science, precision measurement, and data science, and your work will often result in high-impact publications that advance the field.

Postdoc

We are looking for a motivated researcher to join our group and strengthen our expertise in quantum levitodynamics!

If you have a strong background in (levitated) optomechanics and are interested in joining our group, please contact Massimiliano.

We welcome applications for individual postdoctoral fellowships. We’d be happy to support you, also after you apply to our group. Take a look at the VENI fellowship or the Marie Curie fellowship. In many countries, there are also fellowships available for outgoing postdocs.

Master projects

We are always looking for bachelor or master students from TU Delft that want to do a project in our group.

A number of master projects are available, the specific topics and details depend on the current research in the lab. You are welcome to ask any question on what we do and how we do it. Have a look at our website and contact Massimiliano or any of our group members, we are looking forward to hearing from you!

You can also find the projects in the Pick Your Project webpage, although we do not guarantee they are up-to-date.
